‘Heirloom’

36 in x 48 in
acrylic on canvas
2024

'Heirloom' was painted in homage to the act of taking care of things; passing stories or belongings from one generation to the next. I believe heirlooms are becoming more rare and they are a very precious thing. A woman sits next to her friend the tiger (created from an antique wooden marionette tiger of mine I have had for years) amidst a patch of heirloom strawberries (from one of my first memories of picking my grandmother's strawberries.) I hope the viewer finds warmth when looking at this piece, and is reminded of the beauty of simply patching a pair of jeans.
